The World Fossil Finder Museum in Hot Springs is not your typical fossil museum, but a museum with several world-wide first fossil discoveries. We are a family-friendly museum that wants to inspire and educate children and adults to enjoy learning about the natural wonders of the world. We also have a large gift shop. The World's Largest Pheasant is located on Highway 14 in Huron. This 28-foot, 22-ton pheasant made of fiberglass and steel has affirmed Huron as a premier pheasant hunting location since 1959. From its beak to the tip of its feathered tail, this giant bird spans more than 40 feet! Make sure you get a chance to take your photo with the World's Largest Pheasant while in Huron.
Created by Jarret Dahl and crew of Dahl's Chainsaw Art, the World's Largest Wooden Bigfoot Sculpture is located at their Keystone location. Carved out of ponderosa pine, cedar and cottonwood using chainsaws, the seated Sasquatch stands 23 feet tall. Completed in 2020 and named "Billie", the sculpture has been recognized by the World Record Academy as the world's largest.
The 60-room Wrangler Inn in Mobridge is centrally located near some of the best hunting and fishing in the Midwest. There are also meeting and banquet facilities to accommodate up to 120 people. The attached Windjammer Lounge features a linen-covered dining room and a casual sports bar overlooking beautiful Lake Oahe. Enjoy the extensive menu featuring appetizers, burgers, sandwiches, Prime Rib, steaks, seafood, pastas and more. The Windjammer is open 4 p.m.- 12 a.m., Monday through Saturday.
Wylie Park in Aberdeen provides numerous recreational opportunities for all ages. The park features camping, picnicking, playground areas, sand volleyball, softball, horseshoe courts, miles of trails, a swimming beach, miniature golf, go-karts, bumper boats, bike and skate rentals, wildlife exhibits, the Storybook Land Express Train, a train depot museum, and more. While visiting Wylie Park, follow the yellow brick road to Storybook Land & the Land of Oz. For a small fee, ride the train, roller coaster, carousel and balloon rides during the summer months (late May through early September). Wylie Park is open year-round and Storybook Land is open April 15 to October 15. Storybook Land and the Land of Oz rides, concessions and gift shop are open 10 a.m.-9 p.m.
Wylie Thunder Road in Aberdeen is packed full of outdoor fun for all ages. Located in Wylie Park and next to Storybook Land, our attraction features single and double go-karts, mini-golf, Euro Bungy trampolines, bumper boats, and the Laser Maze Challenge. Thunder Road is open early May to mid-September. Summer hours of operation are 12 noon-10 p.m. daily. Group rates and private parties are available by reservation.
