Missouri National Recreational River
The park comprises two free-flowing reaches of the Missouri River separated by Lewis and Clark Lake. The 39-mile reach begins immediately downstream from Fort Randall Dam at Pickstown and continues to Running Water. The 59-mile reach stretches from about one mile below Gavins Point Dam to Nebraska's Ponca State Park. A visitor contact station is located inside their headquarters building in Yankton. Located on the shores of Lake Mitchell, the Mitchell Prehistoric Indian Village is a 1,000 year-old Native American village and the only archaeological site in South Dakota that is open to the public. Guests can watch as archaeologists uncover artifacts in the comfort of the Thomsen Center Archeodome and tour the Boehnen Memorial Museum to see the reconstructed lodge and many of the 1.5 million artifacts. Moccasin Springs is a natural mineral spa in Hot Springs in southwestern South Dakota. The spa is located on the historical ruins of the Hot Springs Hotel. In 2014, the name of the site was changed back to the original name, Moccasin Springs. All of the historical ruins on site have been taken into consideration; maintaining the ruins and building around the original site, keeping as much history as possible for your mineral springs experience. Available services include aromatherapy, deep tissue massage, hot stone massage, Swedish massage, reflexology and more. Moccasin Springs is open to guests ages 18 and older.
