Known as America's Shrine of Democracy, Mount Rushmore National Memorial features the 60-foot faces of four great American presidents — George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln, respectively. These presidents represent the country's birth, growth, development and preservation.

Learn more about Mount Rushmore National Memorial from the people that know it best with Ranger Talks. Held daily from June through September, these 30-minute programs happen at various locations throughout the park.

Nightly Lighting Ceremony

Each evening May through September, a ceremony is held in the park's outdoor amphitheater. It highlights the making of this national monument with a video, flag-lowering ceremony, a salute to veterans, and lighting of the memorial.
