Located in downtown Edgemont, the Trails, Trains & Pioneers Museum traces the ebb and flow of life of the southern Black Hills from pre-historic times to the present. The Edgemont Area Historical Society began in 2005 and maintains the Trails, Trains and Pioneers Museum. Our goal is to keep the voices of the past alive for present and future generations. Admission is free and the museum is open Memorial Day (late-May) through Labor Day (early September) and by appointment. Seasonal hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Tuesday through Friday, and1-5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday.
Trailshead Lodge
Trailshead Lodge near Lead in the northern Black Hills offers seven modern cabins to rent. The cabins each have 3-4 queen beds, HD/Direct TV, a full bath and linens. We also offer snowmobile rentals (we have 28 single sleds and 10 double sleds that are available during the trail season, December 15-March 31), gas pumps, a restaurant/bar, dry camping, and a large lot available for trailer and RV parking. It houses more than 5,000 artifacts, rodeo memorabilia, historical records, antiques, collectibles, fossils and other items. Our hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Tuesday-Saturday.
